Thus is the beginning of the way towards the Monastry Dealu, a "wonder of the oriental art", as
Nicolae Iorga used to call it, a religious monument at over 100 m of altitude comparing to the level
of the town of residence of the county Dambovita.
The establishment was a witness to the local history for more that half a century, as a necropolis for
the family of the ruler Radu cel Mare - the founder of the place, as well as the shelter of voivode
Mihai Viteazul's head. That explains the procession of pilgrims who have been crossing its treshold.
The halt reveals not only a wondeful and mythical landscape, but also a historical, religious, cultural
and educational significance. It is enough to mention the fact that, thanks to monk Macarie, the first
book in Romania was written at the Monastry Dealu. There as well used to function a printing shop and
the famous military high-school "Nicolae Filipescu" where the old ruler of the Popular Romanian
Republic, king Mihai Hohenzolern used to study the military art, as a child, in order to take over the
reins of the country, after his father.

Nature here excels, encouraged by an unsuspected power, as if arisen from an energetical distortion
whose tentacles stretch as far as The Peak Omu. "An ideal place to build a medical recovery center",
mentions the one who, animated by his faith in the mystical forces, tries to borrow the space a
fabulous tint.

By the same mystery aura is also invaded the place itself. People here say that the zone is studded
with a tunnel underground network, joining the old Voivodal Court of Targoviste to important reference
points of historical value.
For the moment, the tourist can enjoy the satisfactions that offer the touristic complex Karoline, in
the neighbourhood of the Monastry Dealu.
